$20 Polymer Commemorative Banknote of Brunei and Singapore : 40th Anniversary of Currency Interchangeability Agreement

To recall the history, prior to 1967, the Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore were using the same currency namely the Malaya and British Borneo banknotes that issued by the Malaya and British Borneo Currency Board. It was until 12 June 1967, all three countries decided to issue their own notes but kept the exchange at par. However, Malaysia had pulled out from this Currency Interchangeability Agreement in 1973. Despite termination from Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore still hold the agreement until today.

On 27 June 2007, Brunei and Singapore celebrated their 40th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement. To commemorate the auspicious event, very interestingly, both counties have issued new $20 polymer notes with adopting the same color and design on the reverse of their notes.
